Thanks to all the volunteers that helped out today to make everything flow well. Thanks to all the racers for, well, racing! There were no left over sausages for my dinner tonight, so it looks like it was a hit once again!

When is the next race???? Well, I’m glad you asked. The committee has been working in the background to put together the 2014 race calendar.

This year we kick off with the Hammer Nutrition 4 hour Enduro Round 1 on 06th April 2014 – click here enter. The 2014 Enduro series page contains all the information for enduros.

Reminder – Summer Series Race 3

Don’t forget to register for the race by 10am Saturday! If you have any issues, send an email to timing@ambc.asn.au

Just for a change we have made the start/finish up the top – see the race map. Entry will still be through the main gate off the old free-way, but we will be allowing parking closer to the start/finish. If you arrive early and no-one else has parked, please ask a race official where and how to park. If everyone else is already there, please follow the trend that has been set and don’t block the main road through the park.

A course map is available here – thanks to Evan James, Dennis Richards and Tim Loft for their assistance in track set up.

Toilets will be available this time around – we’ll even bring some back up toilet paper just in case!

We are still looking for a couple of volunteers for some track marshalling – all volunteers will receive a transferable entry and a free BBQ feed and soft drink. email racevolunteers@ambc.asn.au.

If anyone is interested in the pre-ride arranged for Saturday morning, please e-mail timing@ambc.asn.au to register your interest.

General Summer Series information is here.

The club has printed a number of petition papers for the “A Metre Matters” campaign, for people to sign. They will be available at the registration/sign-on desk. More information is available on the Amy Gillett Foundation website.

New Club Sponsor – MTBSkills.com.au

One of the big responses from the recent club survey was a call for more skills training for members and an easier pathway for beginners to get into racing. To help facilitate this, AMBC has partnered with MTBSkills to run a 2hr Express Session skills course 2 weeks prior to every round of the upcoming AMBC winter series.

These courses will be held at the race venue with a focus on basic techniques, course familiarisation and strategies to make your first race (or second or third!) a great experience.

MTBSkills is Australia’s biggest MTB skills training provider with instructors based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Far North Queensland, throughout Victoria and even Singapore.

While the courses are primarily aimed at beginner to intermediate level riders, anyone is welcome and everyone will benefit from the techniques and feedback on offer.

These courses are being provided at a heavily discounted price and, as an added bonus, AMBC will be offering free entry and transponder hire for every course participant into the next race on the AMBC calendar.

The voucher will not cover the cost of an on-the-day race license ($20).

This is a great opportunity to get into, or improve your racing for not a whole lot more than the cost of a standard race entry!

For more info go to MTBSkills.com.au or to go direct to the booking page click here

A meter matters petition

The Amy Gillett Foundation has recently started a petition to enact new legislation that would require drivers to give reasonable space while over taking cyclists on roads.

Adelaide MTB Club will have petition papers for people to sign at the next race – Sun 16 Mar – at the registration table.

More information is available on the Amy Gillett Foundation petition page on the website.

If you’d like to print your own petition pages and get family, friends and work mates to sign, a PDF of the petition is available – click here – Instructions on how to return completed petitions are on the page – or alternatively, bring them along to the races and add them to the clubs pile.
