Things to do……..

In case you’re looking for some things to do this week in Adelaide, there’s a couple of cycling events on that you may or may not have heard of.

First up is brought to you by Cycling SA. Bringing to you the 2014 Cycling SA Junior and Womens Criteriums + Single Speed Carnival. You’ll notice the single speed part that may be of interest to some MTBers who own these strange contraptions. For more information head over to the info page. Entries close at 23:59 tomorrow night, so it’s time to make some brash decisions!

Secondly, in case you’re still wondering how to properly celebrate Australia Day, what better way than to rock up to a CX race on a MTB bike and show ’em how it’s done. You can pit yourself against AMBCs very own Timekeeper – I don’t have access to rig the results, so you’ll be in for a fair chance – amongst an array of other fellow MTBers. More info can be found on PACCs CX page here. Online entries close off at noon on Friday, so you’ve got more time to make a brash decision! They also recognise MTBA membership now, so get on board.

AMBC 2014 Season Survey

Hello all and welcome to 2014, the 25th Anniversary of the Adelaide Mountain Bike Club.

Thanks to all of the riders who came out to participate at the first of the summer races at Eagle Park, it was a great course and fantastic to see so many keen racers!

The new committee have been hard at work organising the rest of the summer race series and stepping in at short notice to help run the National Series round at Eagle.

Next on the cards is organising the rest of the club’s activities for 2014.  We have lots of big ideas but we want your help.

I have put together a survey which covers a range of issues relating to how YOU want the club to run.  The survey will be open for one month so get on it.

AMBC 2014 Season Survey

Please be as specific as you like, all feedback is appreciated and don’t fret if your idea doesn’t make it in 2014, some things take time to implement.

10 respondents will be chosen at random to receive 1 free race entry (excluding state championships) for the 2014 season.  You must be a club member or willing to sign up to receive your prize.

In other news, AMBC now has an Instagram account, so start following @adelaidemtbclub and tag any MTB photos with #adelaidemtbclub to share with other club members.

See you out there.

Matt Ackland, 2014 AMBC President

Volunteers still needed

We still urgently require a few more volunteers for this weekends MTBA National Round at Eagle Park. Friday late afternoon/evening and Saturday all day. If you can only spare a few hours Saturday, still send an email through. No experience required, you get an event t-shirt, hat, food, water and a front row seat to the action. If you can spare a few hours please email racevolunteers@ambc.asn.au. More details here.

If you’re looking to be a spectator at the XCE event on Friday night, be mindful that if the CFS issue an EXTREME fire warning, only event officials and competitors will be allowed in the park. For up to date details, check the CFS fire ban page, Bureau of Meteorology and MTBA page.
