Annual General Meeting

So we’ve already mentioned that the AGM will take place right before presentations for the State Champs and will take about 5-10 minutes but what does this mean?

Well I’m glad you asked. At the AGM, all committee positions are declared vacant and nominations are taken for all committee positions. If more than one person nominates for any one committee position, the position goes to a vote from the present club members.  We have already received some nominations so thank you to those people who have either nominated or have shown interest in being involved in 2018. However, we still have plenty of positions that we need to fill…..the main one being Race Director without which we cannot hold events (click here for more info). There are a variety of roles available playing to various strengths. Check out the word cloud or head over to our contacts page for a list of positions. If you think you can help the club in other ways please contact us we’d love to hear from you. If you have any questions about any of the positions or you would like to nominate please contact us on info@ambc.asn.au or contact the club mobile on 0408 840 610.

Monarto Forest, aka Monarta Woodlands, or my personal reference Calli Tower Single Track is fast flowy and flat with bermed corners, dirt moguls and a sandy fire road. It is only 35 minutes from the CBD up the freeway just before Monarto Zoo and opposite the callington phone tower. It is an ideal location for beginners to ride or an ideal location for a warm up to an epic ride that takes in the jailbreak and rocky gully single track that Monarto/Murray Bridge is known for. There is nothing on the trail that would catch you out. All abilities welcome.

Sign on will open at around 8:15am with the first race under way by 9am.

Race 1: Fast and furious hot lap race. Ride as fast as you can and really blow that heart rate out of this world. We’ll have categories for men, women, juniors and cx bikes. Cash prizes up for grabs. Prizes will be awarded for 1st place and a random mid-field place. Anyone can be a winner!
Race 2: Poker race. Max 1hr 15mins of riding and the best poker hand will win, not the first person across the line. Complete either 5 laps, 4 laps, 3 laps ….choose the one you feel comfortable with and the one that you will complete in 1hr 15mins.
Crazy sock competition – wear your craziest socks, and if you don’t have any get your plain ones and sew, hang or do something crazy and funky to them. Best socks will be determined by crowd chearing.

RACEDAY
On the day sign on will open from 8:15am with racing starting at 9am and finishing 4hrs later with presentations following shortly after.

RACE COURSE INFO
If you’re wondering what to expect, essentially it is 3 climbs and 200m of climbing per lap. The lap will be just under 7km long. We start at the footy oval, head up the fireroad to the first switch back climb. This will take us to the top ridge and straight down a rocky decent out the back. There we play for a bit, including a ramp over, some tight corners and the second climb which leads us in to the mincer (not as rocky as it used to be but you’ll understand how it got its name). This leads us back to the top ridge. A few rocks here and there but your momentum will carry you over these just fine. Down a decent up another climb and down a fast flowy DH on to the ramp, into a dual slalom, out in to the paddock and back to the footy oval.

Course will be set up the day before. If you or your cheer squad can help please get in touch with P’an-Tau on racedirector@ambc.asn.au
