Mt Torrens 4hr – This Sunday!

Wow, it’s our final 4hr for 2017 already. If you haven’t done one yet then we’d love to see you out either as a solo or get a mate together and enter as a duo.

Remember this one is a private property race and well worth entering the race just to get an opportunity to ride these trails. Big thanks to Carol Moore and Darren Dazzle Moore for sharing your property with us!!

Enter as a team or solo, it works out to $30 per person for club members. Juniors are cheaper. Entries close Saturday 22nd July at 10am.

If you’re not sure how to get there then check out our website for a google maps link and directions. Race head quarters will be on the Mt Torrens footy oval.

Its cheaper to race as a club member. To join or renew visit the MTBA website and select Adelaide Mountain Bike Club as your club. FREE once-off 8 week trial MTBA memberships are also available on the above link.

On the day sign on will open from 8:15am with racing starting at 9am and finishing 4hrs later with presentations following shortly after.

If you’re wondering what to expect, essentially it is 3 climbs and 200m of climbing per lap. The lap will be just under 7km long. We start at the footy oval, head up the fireroad to the first switch back climb. This will take us to the top ridge and straight down a rocky decent out the back. There we play for a bit, including a ramp over, some tight corners and the second climb which leads us in to the mincer (not as rocky as it used to be but you’ll understand how it got its name). This leads us back to the top ridge. A few rocks here and there but your momentum will carry you over these just fine. Down a decent up another climb and down a fast flowy DH on to the ramp, into a dual slalom, out in to the paddock and back to the footy oval.

Course will be set up the day before. If you or your cheer squad can help please get in touch with P’an-Tau on

Yes! Coffee Cubicle will be joining us!!

We need you. These races can’t happen without the good work done by our vollies. If you are available to help set up or pack up or anything else please get in touch with Scott Denton via email:

If you have helped out a past event or at one of the recent working bees and have not received details on how to claim your free entry please contact Scott and he will let you know what to do

Check out our website for info on category options, race rules, costs, etc.  All the info can be found here

MEMBERSHIP – If your membership has expired or you’re not a member then now is a great time to renew and avoid paying a $25 day license. Racing as a club member works out cheaper if you plan on racing all the club events and your membership will also allow you to race at a discounted cost at other mtba affiliated events (GESA, Inside Line, PACC Cyclocross).   Click here to find out more about membership or to join/renew.  If you’re not 100% convinced that racing is for you then you can still race at member prices by taking out MTBA’s 2-month free trial membership offer click here.

ROAD CLOSURES – If you are travelling from the north then make sure you allow plenty of time to get to fox as there are some road closures in place. Fox Creek Road is closed from intersection with Croft and Coldstore Roads for approx 2km towards Cudlee Creek Road. I also noticed a rd closure on lobethal road near swamp road in lenswood. To check for road closures click here or here

COURSE MAP – The lap is around 5.5km long with 160m of climbing. The first half is the techy part of the lap opening up into fast flow trail before climbing up spooky forest and making your way back to the start/finish along dynamic tension. Dave our race director will be setting up the course Friday around 9am, if you’re avaiable to help out then he would love a hand. Please email him on

2016 AGM and State Champs

So we have now reached the business end of 2016….
Thank you to all the members, competitors, sponsors, committee and volunteers who have made 2016 a great year so far, the club wouldn’t exist without you!

The 2016 XCO State Championships will be hold at Fox Creek 6th November 2016 and online entries are now open.  We’ll post more details very soon but most of it is already covered on our champs page.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be taking place right before presentations for the State Champs. This will be at around 2:00pm. The official proceedings will take about 5-10 minutes and cover the financials of the club for the year and the committee members for 2016.

At the AGM, all committee positions are declared vacant and nominations are taken for all committee positions. If more than one person nominates for any one committee position, the position goes to a vote from the present club members.

To keep things quick the club would appreciate any nominations for any committee positions prior to the day. Please send nominations to or contact the club mobile on 0408 840 610.

Committee positions are available on the contact page and if you have any questions about any of the positions you are encouraged to send an email to the relevant address listed for the position.
