Melrose Double Header

Join us on the 24th and 25th of October at Melrose, in the Southern Flinders Ranges, for two epic XCO races. Melrose’s beautiful single trails and scenery will make for a great weekend away to round out the 2020 AMBC XCO series! Thanks to our sponsors Hammer Nutrition, Bikecorp (Azur Lights, Krush Bikewash, Super B tools), Iomerino merino clothing, Bridge Road Brewers, BioMechanics Cycles and Repairs, GoVita Health foods Marion & Colonnades and lastly Zero Friction Cycling, who will be presenting the ZFC end of year series overall titles!

DAY 1 Melrose Township RACE DETAILS

  • 1:00pm SIGN ON
  • 1:30pm: FEMALE, JUNIOR + OPEN EMTB START
  • 10.30am: PRESENTATION (early grades) (approximate time)
  • 3:30pm: MALE GRADES + U19M START

DAY 2 Willowie Forest RACE DETAILS

  • 8:15am: SIGN ON
  • 9:00am: FEMALE, JUNIOR + OPEN EMTB START
  • 10.30am: PRESENTATION (early grades) (approximate time)
  • 11:00am: MALE GRADES +U19M START

CATEGORIES/START WAVES:

Self seeded, ability based categories for XC racing.

  • A Grade Men: 6 laps
  • B Grade Men / A Grade Women: 5 laps
  • C Grade Men / B Grade Women: 4 Laps
  • D Grade Men 3 laps / C Grade Women: 3 laps
  • Male & Female Juniors: U19= 4 laps, U17= 3 laps, U15= 3 laps , U13= 2 laps
  • EMTB Open: 4 Laps
  • (*All Junior races to be cancelled if forecast for 34deg or over)
  • (**All lap counts are subject to change at any time at the race director’s discretion. All entrants will be notified.)

** Suggested laps per grade based on a 15 minute Elite (A Grade) lap time. This is a guide only and the number of laps is variable due to different venues and different track conditions.

PARKING

Parking will be directed on race day and notified prior to event. Please check above maps! Please make sure you exit the venue before our committee, otherwise your car might be locked in!

HOUSEKEEPING

Please be mindful of Melrose Town residents. Please protect these areas as they also house significant conservation value. Be respectful to the parks and it’s users and represent MTB’ers sensibly!

COURSE SET UP

Working bees are planned leading into the race over the next few weeks. Course setup will be done in the days leading into the first race! If anyone can help please get in touch with the club at racevolunteers@ambc.asn.au
